The latest Internet Ramblings on Albuquerque

Winter fun in Albuquerque includes indoor and outdoor activities. Find something to take the chill off.

Its Oscar night on Sunday, February 26, and if you want to sample some glitz and glamour, the KiMo is having an Oscar Night America Party. Youll see the awards on a giant screen in full HD with Dolby sound. Guests can predict the nights winners in a nomination contest, and the person with the most correct predictions wins a grand prize. The grand prize is a tour for two of the set of "Breaking Bad" along with Albuquerque Film Office director Anne Lerner.

There are only 49 official Oscar-endorsed parties in the U.S., and this is one of them. And its the only officially sanctioned Academy Awards event in New Mexico. Red Carpet broadcast begins at 5:30 p.m. and features a cash bar, appetizers from Slate Street Cafe and live music by local favorite Le Chat Lunatique. A silent auction will help raise additional funds. Guests will receive gift bags as well. The black tie event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Public Library and the KiMo Theatre.

Tickets for the gala fundraiser are $75 per person or $125 per couple. Anyone with tickets to the fundraiser can also attend Saturdays screenings of live and animated Oscar shorts in showings at noon and 2:30 p.m., respectively. Not going to the fundraiser but want to see the shorts? Tickets are $10 per screening or $15 for both. Tickets can be purchased online, at (505) 886-1251 or at the KiMo Box office.
